The solid core is covered by a "Surlyn Shell" outer layer that leaves no marks on the surface or contact points it encounters. This combination of core and outer layer minimizes the bounce, and is reminiscent of the bounce that a regular hockey puck has. Smart Hockey Training Ball 3oz has a solid outer layer that allows the ball to be used on any flat surface; in the changing room, on the tennis court, in the driveway or on the garage floor. The ball works equally well in all temperatures.

It has a diameter of 43mm with a contact point on the stick blade that is slightly lower than the contact point on a normal hockey puck. Its low height makes it perfect for working pull-ups and increasing reach when handling the puck. The ball weighs 2.8 oz. (79 g.) and weighs less than half of what a normal hockey puck weighs. The low weight makes it easier to develop super quick hands, as the ball goes faster and you have to react more quickly. It is smaller in size than a golf ball, but it bounces nowhere near as much.
